Hammer’s first pioneering and rich gothic horror, while originally condemned for its violence and gore, was a box office sensation across the globe, which fueled the resurgence of the Horror Film. Cushing’s cold and murderous Frankenstein, obsessed with the creation of life from death, is far more monstrous than his own creation (Lee).
